On Wedneday, Dec. 14, Turner Classic Movies is screening the 1920 silent film adaptation of HUCKLEBERRY FINN. I've kept an eye on television film listings for twenty years, and so far as I know, this film has never before been shown on TV. I've never seen the film myself, but I've used still pictures from it in some of my books. If nothing else, the film should be visually interesting, as it was evidently designed to resemble E. W. Kemble's illustrations in the novel's first edition. See, e.g. the entry on "Royal Nonesuch," p. 409 in MARK TWAIN A TO Z.
