It should definitely be "fame." He might have meant "frame," and written "fame"--but either way, I believe you're right! Also, if you play "Revolution Number 9" at 16 2/3 rpms (the standard slowest setting on the old phonographs) the baby crying that starts a little over half way in is clearly the voice of Paul, moaning and crying in agony. Okay, I just read that over--I really do agree with your find, and this kind of thing is invaluable if you're going to read his work aloud--it would (and it will) be much easier to make that graph scan with the other meaning. I'm afraid my joke above sounds much more snarky than I intended it to. (yes, I know I just ended a sentence with a preposition, but that is something Mark Twain often toyed with) Also the Paul thing is absolutely true--it is my only "find" in great literature, in 1968 during the Paul Is Dead Phenomenon, and pales in comparison to your fine frame find. Oh, and please note that Mark Twain is reappearing in Chicago in the coming months: @Studio 825, The Fine Arts Building, on Jan. 20, for Shaw Chicago (http://www.shawchicago.org) and again Feb. 23 at the Driehaus Museum (http://www.driehausmuseum.org/programs).
