Description:
Under general direction of the Principal Investigator for Canadian Institutes
of Health Research (CIHR) training grant in Health Law, Ethics and Policy,
the Program Coordinator will be responsible for establishing and maintaining
effective and efficient administrative infrastructure to support the functions
and services of the CIHR Health Law, Ethics and Policy Training Program
for graduate students. The incumbent will act as the main point of
contact for the Training Program and will liaise with graduate trainees
and faculty/researchers at the four partnering institutions and other key
contacts from different sectors including international institutions. S/he
will coordinate the application process and candidate selection process
for the training program and will be responsible for developing and managing
the trainee, alumni, faculty and decision-maker databases and the program
filing system. S/he will manage and coordinate all program events,
meetings, and maintain the program's website and administer the internship
program. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management
of the Program's finances and will collaborate with the Faculty of Law's
finance office in monitoring the budgets, processing payments, and fund
transfers. The incumbent will also be responsible for the collection
and presentation of data for evaluation of the Program on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications:
Minimum
Education:
University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Minimum three years' related experience in office management, budgeting
and program administration as well as experience in developing infrastructure
to support administrative functions and services including proven experience
in database and filing systems development and management. Experience
with data collection and evaluation considered a definite asset as is experience
working in the health sector, the public policy arena or for a health research
organization. Familiarity with the University and the granting agency's
policies and procedures is an asset.
Other:
Proven experience in web editing and maintenance as well as proficiency
in various software programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint,
and Access). Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational
skills. Ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality
is imperative. Demonstrated initiative, tact and diplomacy. Ability
to work very independently and as well as in a team. Ability to exercise
sound judgment and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to
communicate coherently and courteously with a wide range of audiences (e.g.
University faculty/researchers, students, alumni of the Program, administrators
and private/public sector officials both in and outside of Canada). Demonstrated
flexibility in performing work. Attention to detail. Ability
to prioritize workload and meet externally imposed deadlines. Willingness
to take responsibility for independent actions. Competency in French
would be considered an asset.
