I remain quite outside this discussion, except to note as a historian that among white men and women of all kinds and classes all around the world then, including some who were serious in their Judaism, going back hundreds of years, anti-semitism and other such prejudices in favor of white Christianity or Deism or Atheism were the norm—and therefore, as a historian, to wonder at the shock, if not alarm, among some discussants here that this or that white economist was anti-semitic. Look at what they said about “Africans,” or “Indians.”
