Folks; I'm following up on Prof. Wolfgang Hochbruck's call for applicants as a Twain-Scholar to work in the ALU Freiburg as a Fulbright Professor next year (2017-18). Our time in Freiburg was delightful. It's a great university with excellent students, and it is located in southern Germany near the Black Forest and just a few miles from the borders with France and Switzerland, so it is a terrific base for day trips and more extensive forays beyond. The town is terrific, nearby hiking is wonderful; and I can only give the highest recommendation for the area, the university, and especially the warm and generous Hochbruck family as hosts. I know my wife Hiroko and I would be thrilled to return to Freiburg for another stint; (A Tramp Abroad in hand of course)! If I can be of any further help or advice in this process (I am currently a referee for Fulbrights, by the way), or if anyone has questions about living and working in Freiburg, please just ask. --Hal B.
