Thanks for the explanation, Judith.  I guess I should have figured that, but the quote was so obviously a pseudo-Twainism that I wondered if there was some other meaning to it than asking whether it was an authentic Twain quote.  If Jim indicates that he is interested in when in the late twentieth century it appeared, I can help with that.
