I agree with the producer's complaint about the lukewarm NY Times review. I say this as one who saw the production this past weekend. The reviewer criticizes the musical for not meeting contemporary standards of politics, race, and culture etc. The musical in fact is quite true to Twain's book in terms of the characters and plot. The producer's letter is also reprinted on Frank Rich's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/frank.rich.315?fref=nf&pnref=story -Steve Hoffman, Takoma Park, MD On 2/15/2017 4:31 PM, Tracy Wuster wrote: > Passing along from humor scholar Pete Kunze: > > Twain is alive and raisin' hell on Broadway: > > http://www.playbill.com/article/ny-times-responds-to- > producers-complaint-about-big-river-review >
