Hi:

Health providers and people living with disabilities are concerned about the Ontario government’s proposed change to the definition of “disability” under the ODSP program https://globalnews.ca/news/4687970/ontario-social-assistance-reform-plan/

They want to have a restricted definition closer to federal government guidelines.

People currently on ODSP would be grandparented.  But a restricted definition would result in many low income people with disabilities who qualify today not being eligible in a changed ODSP program. It would push very poor people with disabilities into deeper poverty, increased stress, worse health and possible homelessness.

Take action to urge the Ontario government to keep the current ODSP program and definition of “disability”:

Ø  Check defenddisability.ca  for actions that healthcare workers and social workers can take

Ø  Send an email to your MPP and Minister MacLeod using the templates a defenddisability.ca/action/

Ø  Tweet using #defenddisability  #ONpoli  #sdoh  @MacLeodLisa

Ø  Join the list at defenddisability.ca  to stay up to date on this issue

I have attached a backgrounder and guide to action.  This and other material can be found at  defenddisability.ca.

Please distribute this throughout your networks of (Ontario-based) health providers.

Thanks for taking action!
