Thanks for reading, Dave. The “Mark Twain’s Portfolio” series is based on background research I’m doing for my larger project on Twain and political economy. I never imagined the first installment would pique the curiosity of the contemporary financial press and thus get a surprisingly large audience. While I obviously think there is room for further research in this field, it is not completely untapped. I would recommend, especially, the recent collection Mark Twain & Money edited by Larry Howe and Harry Wonham. - MS > On Jun 10, 2019, at 7:32 AM, Dave Davis <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > > I enjoyed reading that, I had no idea of the United Fruit investment.. > Matt, have you thought about doing a book on his investments -- up through > the Rogers recovery and all the way to Plasmon and the Mark Twain Company > (the Ashcroft period). > > (Maybe there is one and I missed it.) > > If not, that might be a good study for someone to undertake. > > DDD *************** Matt Seybold Assistant Professor of American Literature & Mark Twain Studies Elmira College Editor, MarkTwainStudies.org MattSeybold.com
