Description

Obesity Canada in partnership with York University and the University of Alberta will convene the 7th Canadian Obesity Student Meeting on June 17-19, 2020 in Toronto, ON. The COSM 2020 is the only national  academic conference where research trainees and new professionals (a new professional is defined as within 5 years of graduating from highest degree) in the broad field of obesity can share their work and contribute to finding solutions for the prevention and management of obesity in Canada. The purpose of this initiative is to support the next generation of researchers and health professionals in disseminating their research and practice efforts.

Specific objectives include

•         Allow obesity students and new professionals a unique opportunity to translate their own research results across disciplines and health research themes (biomedical, clinical, health services and policy, and population health);

•         Facilitate interaction and collaboration between students and new professionals working in a variety of obesity areas and develop a sense of community amongst the next generation of obesity researchers; and

•         Provide a networking platform in which trainees can explore career opportunities available in various research institutions (private, academic, and public sectors)
