Kitchener Public Library  - YCW Student – Chamber Collection Project Archivist Contract Position

Part-time Hours Approximately 16 weeks (20 hours per week up to 320 hours)

October 2020 – February 2021

Hourly Rate - $27.07

 

Under the guidance of the Librarian, Grace Schmidt Room, the project archivist will intellectually arrange, describe and produce Rules of Archival Description (RAD) compliant finding aid for the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce fonds for inclusion in the Library’s local history digital platform. The project archivist will also create a plan for the physical processing of the collection for storage. Using materials from the collection, the project archivist will plan an exhibit for display in the Grace Schmidt Room and prepare a blog post to discuss discoveries in the collection. The project will also involve re-description of selected existing archival collections, including photographs, to meet RAD standards. It is expected that the majority of this work will be completed remotely. On-site visits to the archives to view the collections are encouraged and can be arranged.
