Dr. Benedict Truman (US CDC) will be presenting "Differential Association of Federal Domestic HIV Funding with HIV Death Rates, by Race/Ethnicity — United States, 1999–2017" on March 11th, 1-2pm. Dr. Truman's bio:

Benedict I. Truman, MD, MPH, FACPM is the Associate Director for Science (ADS) in the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since 2011. Dr. Truman directs the Office of the Associate Director for Science, oversees the assurance of science quality, integrity, and ethics in NCHHSTP; and he provides second level supervision of the Extramural Research Program Office in NCHHSTP that serves CDC’s 3 infectious disease centers. As a member of the Editorial Board, Dr. Truman serves as the Consulting Editor for Infectious Diseases for the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice since 2014.

Since joining CDC in 1983 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer, Dr. Truman has held science leadership positions at the State of New York and the CDC, including Associate Director for Science, CDC’s Office of Minority Health & Health Equity during 2000-2010; and Associate Director for Science, Epidemiology & Analysis Program Office, Office of Surveillance Epidemiology & Laboratory Services during 2010-2011.

Dr. Truman earned a B.S. in Chemistry in 1975 and M.D. in 1979 at Howard University in Washington DC; and an MPH in 1981 at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore Maryland. His expertise and interests include applied epidemiologic methods and research synthesis for infectious diseases, chronic diseases, preventive services guidelines, minority health and health disparities, adolescent and school health.
