Dear Colleagues,

 

Tomorrow, the Center for EU, Transatlantic & Trans-European Space Studies at
Virginia Tech  (CEUTTSS) will host its inaugural Erasmus Lecture with the
economic historian Erik Grimmer-Solem.

 

The inaugural CEUTTSS Erasmus Lecture entitled "Economists, Global Travel,
and German Imperial Politics" is based on Professor Grimmer-Solem's most
recent book "Learning Empire: Globalization and the German Quest for World
Status, 1875-1919" (Cambridge University Press, 2019). The virtual lecture
will take place tomorrow Thursday April 29, 2021, from 12:30-1:45pm (Eastern
Time).

 

Dr. Grimmer-Solem is Professor in the Departments of History and German
Studies at Wesleyan University. His field of expertise is modern German
history with specializations in economic history, economic thought, social
reform, and imperialism. He has held fellowships and research awards from
the University of Chicago, Leverhulme Trust, Thyssen Foundation, and German
Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

 

All faculty, students, and members of the public are welcome to attend.
