This is a growth year for Environmental and Resource economists at UBC. The university is looking for applications for three assistant professor positions -see below. 1. Assistant Professor in Food and Resource Economics.
We are seeking applicants with demonstrable skills in econometric analysis, the analysis of large datasets, and a specialization in one of the following areas: agriculture, environment, food, health, or natural resources. Candidates with skills such as cloud computing, machine learning, or spatial data analysis are especially encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate will be expected to also foster active collaborations in research and teaching within the Faculty of Land and Food Systems (LFS) (example areas such as plant science, soil science, animal biology, environment, or food, nutrition & health); and teach courses in econometrics and data science at the graduate and undergraduate level. 2. Assistant Professor of Human Dimensions of Biodiversity Conservation
The University of British Columbia is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Human Dimensions of Biodiversity Conservation. This will be a joint position in the Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability (IRES) and the Food and Resource Economics Program (FRE). The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022. This position is part of a cluster hire of five positions (four of which have already been filled) all in the area of restoring and conserving global biodiversity. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research and scholarship team at UBC focused on solutions-oriented approaches to biodiversity loss and its connection to sustainability and adaptive capacity for humanity. 3. Assistant Professor in Climate/Energy Policy.
The School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Professor for an economist working on climate and/or energy policy.  They are particularly interested in scholars who work at the intersection of climate change, energy policy, and economics, including, but not limited to, net-zero energy transitions, carbon pricing and regulations, investment and innovation for renewables, and accessible clean energy for all. Experience contributing to or influencing climate change and energy policy through an economic lens will be considered an asset. Geographic specialization is open.
