Announcing the 14th Annual DLSPH Student-Led Conference presented by the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, The
New Normal: Takeaways on Health Misinformation During a Pandemic!
The theme of this year’s conference is “The New Normal: Takeaways on Health Misinformation during a Pandemic.” This virtual conference will emphasize the prevalence
and impact of health misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and encourage a focus on effective and feasible interventions to combat misinformation. Key focus will be placed on research and efforts that address underlying social determinants of health
and acknowledge the impact of intersectionality. We also urge healthcare professionals, policy makers, politicians, researchers and stakeholders to acknowledge the role of socio-ecological factors in influencing misinformation spread and belief, and the strengths
of innovative interpersonal and community-based interventions. Additionally, this conference prioritizes the application of de-stigmatizing approaches to address the spread of health misinformation.
This virtual event will be held from November 11th to 13th, 2021, and
will bring together students, academics, practitioners, community stakeholders, and policy-makers to discuss the role of health information communication during public health crises, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic.
