Subject: Opportunity for BHS Students: American Mock World Health Organization | International Conference (February 19-20, 2022)

Dear SHPM students,

Please find below an invitation to a virtual event, the 9th Annual American Mock World Health Organization (AMWHO) International Conference. This is an opportunity to gain insight into the policy work of the World Health Organization, engage in experiential learning, develop your professional network, and gain tangible experience in collaboration to craft resolutions that will be shared with WHO in Geneva.

It takes place at the start of the reading week and the registration cost is $5.00.

INVITATION to the 9th Annual American Mock World Health Organization (AMWHO) International Conference :

It gives me great pleasure to invite you, your students, and your associate organizations to the 9th Annual American Mock World Health Organization (AMWHO) International Conference.

AMWHO International Conference
February 19-20, 2022
http://www.uncamwho.org/2022.html

AMWHO is an authentic simulation of the World Health Assembly – the sole decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO). This year’s conference will be held virtually at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the 2022 theme:

“Human Conflict & Global Health: Advocating for Emotional, Physical, and Mental Health as a Human Right”

During the 2022 AMWHO International Conference, 150 graduate and undergraduate participants will assume the roles of WHO ambassadors, non-governmental organization members, media correspondents, or industry representatives. As with the World Health Assembly, students will collaborate in their regional groups to analyze a myriad of political, economic, social, and public health factors that affect population health, specifically in the context of conflict. After drafting regional resolutions about innovative policies and, delegates from all regions will assemble to actively debate and collectively revise each region’s drafts, encouraging all regions to adopt a refined final resolution by consensus, which will eventually be sent to the WHO in Geneva, Switzerland.

Please share the details of this opportunity and encourage your students to register for the AMWHO 2022 International Conference. This event promises to be an amazing and unique opportunity for students in public health and public policy to engage in global health diplomacy. Students can register by February 16th at http://www.uncamwho.org/2022.html . If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our AMWHO UNC President, Sonam Shah ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). I am looking forward to seeing you and your students at our virtual conference!

Best wishes through the challenging days ahead,

Benjamin Meier
