You are invited to Laurier Archives and Special Collections’ Annual Spring Lecture: “Sovereignty on Thinning Ice”? Characterizing Arctic Sovereignty and Security - Past, Present, and Future.

Lecturer: P. Whitney Lackenbauer, Ph.D. (he/him), is Canada Research Chair in the Study of the Canadian North and a Professor in the School for the Study of Canada at Trent University, Ontario, Canada. He is network lead of the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network and served as Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of 1st Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, with more than sixty patrols across Canada’s Northern territories, from 2014-2020.

 

Dr. Lackenbauer is one of Canada’s leading experts on Arctic security, history, and contemporary policy. He will be discussing his research in this area as well as his involvement with the Canadian Arctic Resource Committee (CARC). CARC’s records are a part of Laurier Archives and Special Collections’ holdings.
