Historian of economics Michael S. Lawlor died on September 21, 2022, in San
Antonio, Texas, following a long battle with multiple system atrophy (MSA),
a rare neurodegenerative disease.



Lawlor retired as a Professor of Economics at Wake Forest University in
2014, after eighteen years at the university.  He earned his B.A. at the
University of Texas and completed his Ph.D. at Iowa State University.



His early publications were on the history of economic thought, with later
publications in health economics.  (He founded the Health Policy and
Administration program at Wake Forest.)
