Excellent, though overly brief for my taste, argument about the failures of capitalist countries to respond adequately to the climate crisis.

I suspect much of this is “Tragedy of the Commons,” within countries as well as between countries, but my instinct is that it’s much more complex than that.

If space had allowed, I would have liked to see:

(1) Discussion of the concrete factors mediating the relationship between capitalist economic systems and climate disruption, preferably with quantitative data (if available) on the contribution from each factor; and

(2) Examples of socialist governments successfully meeting climate goals, preferably with political tips on “how they did it.” Given the increased likelihood that U.S. democratic structures will survive for a while, we have work to do!

I realize I’m asking for much more than a two-page analysis. Appreciate the education!
