Mauricio Coutinho is Full Professor of Economics at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), São Paulo, Brazil. His research interests are diverse, ranging from great international thinkers like Adam Smith to important Brazilian economists, such as Celso Furtado. His book “Lições de Economia Política Clássica” has played an important role in the education of Brazilian economists for several decades. Prof. Coutinho also stands out for the attention and generosity dispensed to the new generations of historians of economics, as well as his active involvement with the international scholarly community both inside and outside Latin America.
