We invite you to join us at the Society for Socialist Studies<https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.google.com/url?q%3Dhttps://socialiststudies.ca/2023/12/society-for-socialist-studies-2024-annual-conference-sustaining-socialist-futures/%26amp;sa%3DD%26amp;source%3Deditors%26amp;ust%3D1702843683576342%26amp;usg%3DAOvVaw30joaRlG1z4ZhGf06szUec&sa=D&source=docs&ust=1702843683581852&usg=AOvVaw2l7ULk-yJP2IfM_k-88e1I> in-person panel discussion titled Health for All: The Promise of Socialism in Achieving Health Equity during the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences Congress 2024<https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.google.com/url?q%3Dhttps://www.federationhss.ca/en/congress2024%26amp;sa%3DD%26amp;source%3Deditors%26amp;ust%3D1702843683576642%26amp;usg%3DAOvVaw3ajphvQNLqaDij4nes2TF7&sa=D&source=docs&ust=1702843683582050&usg=AOvVaw1q1D7K4ezihDpN_uFdPpnK>, hosted at McGill University, Montreal, Canada between June 12 to 21, 2024.

As we navigate a world facing ongoing and worsening health disparities and social inequalities, this panel seeks to explore the intersection of health equity and socialism, past, present, and future. We are looking for 2-3 individuals in the fields of health, political economy or health policy who are interested in volunteering their time to contribute to this panel. Areas of experience or expertise can include but are not limited to: healthcare, public policy, economics, political theory, system change, community organising and other related areas.

Your insights and contributions can shed light on the current and potential role socialism plays in achieving equitable access to healthcare, dismantling systemic inequalities, and promoting collective well-being. Whether you are a scholar, a practitioner, an activist, or a community organiser, your unique voice and experiences are valuable in fostering critical discussions about the future of healthcare in a socialist context.

To participate, please submit a short bio (200-400 words) highlighting your background, expertise, and how your work or experiences relate to the panel topic. We encourage submissions from individuals with a wide range of experiences and perspectives, as diversity strengthens the depth of our discussions. Preference will be given to new and emerging scholars as we wish this panel to be an opportunity to highlight voices that have yet to be heard and to assist those wanting more experience within their professional careers.

Submission Deadline: January 1st, 2024

Let us come together to explore how socialism can pave the way for both healthier people, and a more equitable and just health care system. Join us at Congress 2024 in Montreal, share your insights, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue in health equity and socialism.

We look forward to your valuable contribution in making this panel a vibrant and enlightening part of Congress 2024. After reviewing all submissions, selected panellists will be contacted by email before January 15th, 2024.
