Extremely sad news. Mauro was my favorite author, my greatest example as a researcher and a dear friend. It's really hard to express how much he will be missed.

I write in shock. I did not know at all that Mauro was so ill and I just want to say this is a great loss, first of all to his beloved ones, but also for us as a society. I am very very sorry to read this.
