The Means to the End: Victorian Design in Mark Twain's House Mark Twain Memorial Spring Symposium Saturday, April 24, 1993 The Mark Twain Memorial's spring symposium will explore the influence of Gothic, Classical, Renaissance, and Exotic design interpretations on Victorian architecture, interior design and the decorative arts. Art and architectural historians Sarah Bradford Landau, Mark Alan Hewitt, Leland Roth and Robert Grant Irving will focus their talks on the Mark Twain House, the primary residence of the Clemens family from 1874 until 1891. Twain's home was designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter and decorated in 1881 by Louis Comfort Tiffany and Associated artists. Registration: $25 members and students, $35 non-members.
