I think twain is a lot like most of us disillusioned idealists who love
Peter and Paul, but who feel a degree of revulsion for the general
inhumanity of man. I don't think Twain exhibited any deep rooted
prejudices of any particular strain of the human beast and his remarks
concerning the French or the Irish or Comanches were adopted as part of a
comic persona.
Hell, I have no prejudices. I hate all races equally. I can't find one that
is more base or greedy or downright ignorant than another.
