McGILL UNIVERSITY CENTRE FOR TROPICAL DISEASES in collaboration with THE LONDON SCHOOL OF HYGIENE AND TROPICAL MEDICINE and LABORATOIRE DE SANT PUBLIQUE DU QU BEC presents A COURSE IN ADVANCED LABORATORY PARASITOLOGY ___________________________________________ August 21 - 25, 1995 Topics will include: *Assessing the value of laboratory diagnostic tests and commercial kits *Opportunistic parasites in AIDS patients *Relevance of parasite serology tests *Developments and problems in the laboratory detection of Cryptosporidium and Microsporidium in AIDS patients *Development of EIA for direct testing of antigens from stool specimens *Problems in the laboratory - diagnosis of malaria *New developments for malaria detection *Other blood and tissue parasites. Laboratory sessions will include: *Examination of known and unkown concentrates and stained smears of all intestinal parasites *Evaluation of Coproantigen kits for Giardia and Cryptosporidium *Malaria processing and staining techniques *Examination of known and unknown smears of Malaria.
