Conference on John Stuart Mill and the French Thought of his Time Philosophy, Politics, Economics Maison francaise d'Oxford, 6-9 December 1995 The Maison francaise d'Oxford and the Ecole Normale Superieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud (France) are organizing a conference in Oxford (6-9 December 1995) on "John Stuart Mill and the French Thought of his Time: Philosophy, Politics, Economics." This conference aims to give European scholars the opportunity to discuss Mill's intense exchanges with French thinkers of the early nineteenth century, and to consider the consequences of these exchanges on Mill's thought as well as his influence on continental thought. The conference will focus on the many interests Mill found in French thought: moral philosophy, political science, economics, as well as epistemology, history, logic and even literary criticism.
