CALL FOR PAPERS France & Scotland in the Enlightenment Grenoble, France, 6-9 July 1996 The Eighteenth-Century Scottish Studies Society will hold its tenth anniversary conference at Stendhal University, Grenoble, in association with the Etudes Ecossaises (CNRS), which is under the direction of Pierre Morere. This will be the first major conference devoted to the theme of the interplay between the French and Scottish Enlightenments. Proposals are invited on all aspects of this topic, including those treating the exchange of ideas and ideologies, personal connections, book editions and translations of contemporary titles, comparative studies, the impact of Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Rousseau in Scotland, the spread of Scottish political economy and philosophy in France, and commercial, military, religious, and other ties between the two countries during the 18th century.
