We are very happy to be able, after all, to arrange an awaited debate between Geoff Hodgson and Jack Vromen on the issues of evolutionary theory already this semester. This strengthens our pursuit of the form of argumentative dialogue and debate as part of the conversational culture of the seminar. The debate between Geoff and Jack will take place on 6 December. This gives the rest of us ample time to read (or reread) the two books. Maarten Janssen's talk on the ceteris paribus clause, originally scheduled for this date, will be postponed until the Spring term. Enclosed please find a copy of the revised programme of the seminar. If you haven't done so already, please be reminded that we expect you [1] to indicate your interest in remaining in the mailing list; [2] to indicate which seminars you plan to attend so that the respective papers can be mailed to you in advance (please indicate only those sessions that you actually intend to attend); [3] to forward this information to those of your colleagues and students who might be interested in being put in the mailing list and in receiving the papers; [4] to inform us about your willingness to give a paper and/or participate in a debate at the Erasmus Seminar at a later date; suggestions for other speakers (such as foreign specialists visiting the country or its vicinity) or topics or debates are also most welcome. As for [1] and [2], please contact Manon Geluk (telephone 010-408 1159, email [log in to unmask]). As for [4], please contact Uskali Maki (see above in the North-Eastern corner). We very much look forward to hearing from you and seeing you around. Every good wish, Sincerely, Uskali Maki Maarten Janssen Arjo Klamer
