CCS Network Operations has identified a bug in the running version of cisco router software, IOS 10.3(4). This bug sporadically causes entire IPX subnets to vanish from the York Data Network and requires manual intervention to correct it. The running S/W load needs to be updated to a newer version, IOS 10.3(7), that is believed to not have this problem. To implement this change, Network Operations will be instituting a reload of all of the backbone routers beginning at approximately 0600 Wednesday November 8. This will cause a disruption of the entire York Data Network for a period of about 5 minutes while the routers complete their startup. Well-behaved TCP/IP applications will hang but not abort during this outage. Netware connections across subnet boundaries can be expected to be lost.
