The coach will leave Roubaix at 9.00. The visit will last from 10.00 to 12.00. All participants will be back at the Lille Railway stations by 13.00. Built in the early 19th century, "Grand Hornu" quite extraordinarily examplifies the social project (inherited from the Enlightenment) of an ideal city which should favour the blossoming out of new men. This architectural monument has little to see with the mining villages of the second half of the 19th century. Our guest, Henri Guchet, is the architect who saved and rehabilitated the place. He will relate its history and analyse its architectural rationality.
