SYNERGY ONLINE: Bulletins and News Briefs from The Canadian Society for International Health [log in to unmask] =================================================================== American Society on Aging 3rd International Conference on Long Term Care Case Management Bridging The Many Worlds of Case Management --------------------------------------------------------------- December 4-7, 1996 Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, San Diego, California The 1996 conference particularly will emphasize themes that have recently taken on international significance. Everywhere health care and social service budgets have reached their limits of expansion, and many are shrinking. Public-private partnerships of various sorts are under consideration, as well as ways to appropriately involve family members and volunteers in care provision. Decentralization is occurring, in the United States through mechanisms such as block grants to state governments, bringing new challenges and opportunities to case management programs. Also challenging is determining how consumers can be empowered despite (or because of) case management programs. This conference will explore similarities and differences between case management in managed health care, and other worlds of long- term care case management that sometimes move in separate orbits. The conference will examine ways that the worlds of case management can co-exist, interact, enrich each other, and, at minimum, avoid collision. Deadline for Submitting Proposals is February 15, 1996 The Program Committee invites individuals involved in case management and care coordination at all levels (ie administrators, supervisors, clinicians, direct service providers, policy-makers, planners, analysts, educators, researchers, and advocates) to submit proposals.
