On Tuesday, October 22, CCS will be upgrading the IMAP service to the most current version on the e-mail postoffice servers. There will be a brief, five minute interruption of IMAP service that could cause newly attempted IMAP connections to fail. In this case, you should try reading your mail again in a few minutes. No other e-mail services will be affected. IMAP provides remote mailbox services to mail programs like Pine. IMAP4, the latest version, contains new features needed to support additional IMAP-based mail programs. After the change, people using IMAP-based mail programs, like Pine, will notice a message in their inbox with the subject: DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA Although you can safely delete it, we advise you to simply leave it in your folder since IMAP4 will create it again. If you encounter any problems reading your e-mail using Pine or any other IMAP-based mail program after the upgrade, please report it to the CCS Help Desk at extension 55800. -- Marshal Linfoot Phone: (416) 736-5257 x22691 Manager, UNIX Technical Support FAX: (416) 736-5701 CCS, York University E-mail: [log in to unmask]
