He didn't marry poor Emma until 3 September 1891. Emma's obit lists no children. *Who Was Who in America* gives Abbott Handerson Thayer's stats (1:1225) and says that he was "Joint author with his son of Concealing Coloration in the Animal Kingdom, 1909."
