Hello to the group: I'm a registered dietitian in Colorado, USA. I specialize in nutrition therapy for older adults. I counsel, and conduct workshops on high blood pressure, nutrition and stress, antioxidants & phytochemicals, supplement use, food-medication interactions, and other areas. I write and publish a monthly newsletter "Spotlight on Food--nutrition news for people 60-plus" available as a mailed subscription, and via e-mail (much cheaper!). >Liz Rykert wrote: > What are your lessons learned to date with respect to incorporating computer> mediated communication (cmc) in your work? I couldn't do without it! I keep my books on computer, design overhead transparencies for my workshops on Microsoft, write my newsletters on Word Perfect, design brochures and flyers for my counseling and public speaking; I use Medline to research special topics like osteoporosis and Parkinson's Disease, and I belong to several listservs for health and aging issues. I also belong to Dietitians Online via American Online and can get answers to many questions by posting to the group. My particular interest is in promoting health, wellness, and independent living for older adults, especially low-income, rural, and minority seniors. I do volunteer counseling at our local senior center, and I'm doing diabetes education on a volunteer basis for low-literacy Hispanics at their community center. I'd love to hear from others who have used or designed needs assessments or outcome evaluations for community health programs. I look forward to great discussions!
