Highlights of the Event The event will feature: . displays showing how the service has grown and changed over time . unveiling of a commemorative gift by the volunteers who run the service to St. Joseph's Community Health Centre . recognition of the recently awarded 1996 Pinnacle Award of Merit given to the service for outstanding standards in communication with the community . new aspects of Health Extension . various special guests will be in attendance such as: . Health Extension Health Extension (formerly called Tel-Med) started in 1986. The Service offers a taped library of health information available over the telephone 24 hours a day. The service has been identified as "one of Canada s most dynamic community-based health information services" (Health Canada, 1993). The information is free and confidential. The system is completely computerized and offers easily accessible assistance from a trained volunteer if needed, during business hours. Call 573-4810 for more information.
