Hello, everyone - I'm resending this as I gather sending things via 'reply' function don't always work, which is what I did first time. My sincere apologies for repeating it to anyone who did get this first time round. I've been lurking on this list for a few weeks and thought it time to introduce myself, as I wish to request some information if people have the time to provide it. I am Peter Murray, a Lecturer in the School of Health & Social Welfare at The Open University, UK. Before that I was a nurse tutor and before that a coronary care staff nurse; I have a long-standing interest in health promotion/education, particularly re: cardiac/coronary issues. I am currently involved with a literature/research review of the use and effects of 'multimedia' in health promotion, with an emphasis on its use in a distance/open learning context. By multimedia, is meant everything from CD-ROMs , thro' interactive video, thro' satellite broadcasting, to virtual reality and use of the Internet/Web. A tall order maybe, but our initial searches seem to indicate there's not a lot of literature on these things. We are particularly interested in any work that has been done to demonstrate outcomes, effectiveness etc of use of these media, both with health professionals and the general public. If anyone knows of any work done in these areas, and can provide references, or if anyone is themselves involved in work that is currently unpublished, I'd like to hear from you. Needless to say, we are not sitting on our hands and asking others to do our searching for us; we have a researcher who is doing a lot of Web searching, and searching databases for such published literature, but there may also be materials from conferences, other 'grey literature', or things people have done that are just not published. If anyone can help, please contact me at my email address as below. Many thanks for any help anyone can give. Also: >Jiri Rada Senior Lecturer - Department of Public Health Could you provide me directly with your email address (was unable to resolve it from the list headers) as I may be able to help with some of the information you requested, and would be better to chat personally rather than through the list.
