================= HES POSTING ================= Brad Bateman: Ah ha! Now I understand why we are talking at cross purposes. I am not claiming that Stigler was a great historian; I am claiming that his historical/sociological understanding informed his research agenda (and the Chicago counter-revolution). Perhaps we mean something different by "Whig" history; what Stigler wrote about the "kinky demand curve" and monopolistic competition does not suggest that he believed that 'truth' would vanquish 'error.' He had a very clear understanding about the hierarchy of influence. Robert Leeson ============ FOOTER TO HES POSTING ============ For information, send the message "info HES" to [log in to unmask]
