This consultation is one of the measures undertaken by the Canadian Government under the Peacebuilding Initiative, announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy on October 30, 1996. The consultation will take place on February 7, 1997 at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa. CSIH is seeking a member who would be interested in representing the Society. The representative should be familiar with how health issues relate to peacebuilding, conflict prevention and post-conflict reconstruction. The Society requires a short, telephone-based briefing before the session, as well as a 1-2 page report focusing on ways the Society could become involved.
