I am a new member of the forum, so please forgive me if I ask any questions that have been previously addressed. Some years ago I read that Twain seriously contemplated suicide while a reporter for the San Francisco Call. I have been unable to find that reference again and the issue is not discussed in any of the other Twain biographies I recently consulted. Is there evidence to suggest that Twain did indeed contemplate suicide and, if so, where can I find more on this subject? Thanks for your help! -- Bill Hassebrock
