In the fall of 1997, there will be a charge to undergraduate students for printing services provided by the printers located in the computer labs and the Operations area of the Steacie Science Library. The print charge will apply to printing in the labs located in rooms 014, 021(Glade), T128, T107, T107A as well as any other facility that may use the central CCS printers, such as the Maxwell lab, Phoenix or the Email servers. The implementation of a print chargeback within Steacie will bring the service in line with other labs on campus and will encourage the responsible use of resources. The revenue collected from the printing will be in support of paper, maintenance and printer purchases. The university has had success in the use of the photocopy cash card in the Library. It is convenient and easy to use and provides a viable solution for the Steacie printing chargeback. CCS is currently testing the cash card. Throughout the test phase, students will not incur printing charges. Once the test period is complete, the per page charge will likely be set at .10 cents.
