I would be most interested in the names of the two companies that defaulted on the Grant book distribution contract. In May of 1886 a Chicago newspaper reported that 100,000 copies of the Grant book had been lost in a fire. I've never seen a major loss by fire of Grant's book mentioned in SLC's biographies. Barb
