In response to further questions I submitted to the Mark Twain Research Foundation via the Mark Twain Birthplace at [log in to unmask] further information regarding their collection was provided -- According to the representative: "The donation [from MTRF] was received on March 19, 1993. There are over 4,000 items in the donation. The bulk of the material deals with the manuscripts relating to the Mark Twain Research Foundation. The original Mark Twain materials are less numerous and currently not available to the general public. Under the terms of the donation agreement, exclusive use of material is granted to the editor of The Twainian, Professor Richard Holmes, for a specific period of time. Any access to this information would require his permission (which he has granted liberally in the past). His office number is 573-288-6372 and his fax number is 573-288-6615. Unfortunately, the cataloged collection is not available online. As for ordering a copy, that may be more difficult to answer. The items are listed on index cards, disorganized and are not in an easy format to copy as of yet. We are preparing a copy that can be printed but it remains incomplete at this time. Once this is accomplished, it should be available on disk. "A subscription to The Twainian is $20 a year. It is published quarterly with the first edition of the year occuring in March. It is in it's 54th year of publication and back issues are still available at $5 each." --Barb
