==================== HES POSTING ======================= The question can be read two ways: books that are considered important for the discipline or books that are considered important personally. A book that has had a lasting impression on me (but, I think would pale in comparison to someone like Schumpeter) is Eduard Heimann's "History of Economic Doctrines." It was written in 1945 and it is awful hard to find, but I still refer to the copy I have in my possession. I would count Leo Rogin's book as important to me as well. Jonathon E.
