Call for Papers for the Tenth Annual Conference of the Canadian
Association for Suicide Prevention, October 13-16, 1999, Halifax, Nova
Scotia, Canada

The special theme for this year's conference is "Towards 2000-New
Light on the Issue of Suicide". With the millennium on the horizon,
this conference will provide participants with innovative information
and an optimistic outlook towards suicide work in the future. The
conference program is organized around three key areas - prevention,
intervention, and postvention. Specific areas of interest include:
suicide and youth, seniors, gay/lesbians, inmates, Native peoples, or
African-Canadians; suicide and trauma; educational initiatives;
innovative programs/services; and what's new in research.

You are invited to respond to this Call for Papers and contribute to
the program by sharing your work/experience addressing the theme.
Opportunities exist for paper or poster presentations or organizing a
workshop or panel. Abstracts describing your presentation may be
submitted to the Program Committee on or before January 29, 1999 for

The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention aims to reduce the
suicide rate and minimize the harmful consequences of suicidal
behaviour. CASP works towards its goal by facilitating, advocating,
supporting and advising.
