Re-reading Huck Finn recently, I've been thinking about the "Notice" at the
beginning of the book.

"Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted;
persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons
attempting to find a plot in it will be shot.
-By order of the author
-per G.G. Chief of Ordnance"

I'm sure there must have been plenty of ink spilled just over that alone.
Anyone know of any articles, essays, or other historical info on the
"NOTICE"?
