Archival Intern



The North Bay Area Museum/Nipissing Archives has available the position of Archival Intern for a 16 week internship. During this time, as a member of the North Bay Area Museum staff, the intern will focus their efforts in the following areas:

assisting in the relocation and set-up of the current archival collection to new premises

the organization the archival collection along accepted archival standards

the creation of an archival finding aid, using the above standards as a benchmark and updated as the project moves forward

the development of archival outreach programs in cooperation with other staff members

The ideal candidate will be have an archival background and experience working with a range of archival materials. They will be familiar with standard archival procedures and rules of description. The candidate must be familiar with database and spreadsheet programs, their operation and use, on a PC platform (Windows 95). Experience in educational programs, dealing with the public, local museum and/or archival experience are assets. Candidates must be self starters able to work with minimal supervision in a team atmosphere that encourages self reliance while still effectively using the skills and abilities of others.
