In one of his letters to Howells, Twain apologized for his many financial
speculations by saying it was in his nature to speculate. The index for
_MT-Howells Letters_ doesn't help me find it, and I'm driving myself
batty looking. Does anybody know off hand which letter contains this
passage? Or am I misremembering the source? Was it a letter to someone
else?

Thanks in advance.
