I have received a question from another physician regarding an address made by Twain to the Illinois State Medical Society late in the 19th century. This speech was cited by George Will when he himself spoke to the Illinois State Medical Society about 100 years later. Mr. Will has not responded to the questioner's request to provide a citation for the speech, and the historian of the Illinois State Medical Society cannot find a record of the ancient speech. Does anyone have any knowledge about such a speech? K.Patrick Ober Wake Forest University
