This individual will be responsible for the development of a complete archival program for the County of Grey and its constituent municipalities. Grey County is located in southwestern Ontario and offers a high quality of life; away from the hustle and bustle of large urban centres, but still easily accessible within a two to three hour drive. Qualifications: A graduate degree of Archival Studies or graduate degree in history or information studies with specific archival training is recommended. The successful applicant will have a minimum of five yearÆs archival experience with three yearÆs experience in managing an archival program. Candidates must have a broad range of archival experience including facility development and management, records management and experience in the appraisal, acquisition, arrangement, description, preservation and access to archival records. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Primary Responsibilities: The Project Manager/Archivist will be responsible for the initial development of a municipal archival facility which is to be located in the CountyÆs Home for the Aged in Markdale, Ontario. The Project Manager/ArchivistÆs duties include the management of the necessary renovations of the building to provide for a suitable facility, along with the collection and cataloguing of municipal records. Further to that the Project Manager will help research and analyze the most appropriate location for a final home of the archives. The Project Manager/Archivist will recommend and develop partnerships for the continuing development, funding and management of the archives. While the initial focus of the archives will be on municipal records, it is expected that it will evolve into a community archives. This is a two-year contract position with duties to commence immediately. The salary is currently under review.
