It's too bad that archivist wasn't a subscriber to the Mark Twain Forum back in 1997 when the hanging article was mentioned. It's also too bad that Cyril Clemens' little collections which contained a reprint of that article (1941) weren't more widely circulated. It would have reduced embarrassment to claimants for new discoveries which turn out to be neither new or nor "virtually unknown."
